You’ve made it through the Setup Assistant. Before you do anything else — opening Chrome, setting up Slack, anything — there’s a specific order of operations to follow. Skipping steps here can cause problems that are annoying to fix later.
1

Restart Your Mac

Do this before anything else.
Your Mac’s disk is encrypted, and for us to register the encryption key on our end, you need to sign back in after a full restart. If you skip this, we won’t be able to help you recover your session if your account ever gets locked or something goes wrong.
Restart via the Apple menu in the top left. When it boots back up, sign in with the password you set during the Setup Assistant.
2

Set Up Google Chrome

Once you’re logged back in, open Google Chrome from your Dock or Applications folder.
Set Chrome as your default browser when prompted.
Sign in with your Good Noodle Co. email address (yourname@goodnoodle.co). Chrome will redirect you to the Okta login page — sign in there as normal.
Chrome is our supported browser. Most internal tooling is tested and optimised for it, so it’s worth getting this sorted first.
3

Set Up Okta Verify on Your Mac

Open the Okta Verify app from your menu bar (the icon should be sitting up there after provisioning). You’ll be presented with two options — Get Started or Add Account from Another Device. Since you already have your Good Noodle Co. account set up on your phone from before your start date, select Add Account from Another Device.
Enable Bluetooth on your Mac if it isn’t already on.
  1. Open the Okta Verify app on your phone.
  2. Select your Good Noodle Co. account on your phone.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add Account to Another Device.
  4. Your phone will display an 8-character code — type that code into the prompt on your Mac.
  1. Once entered, your Mac will display a 6-digit verification code — enter that on your phone to confirm the transfer is legitimate.
  2. You’ll then be offered the option to enable Touch ID unlock for Okta Verify on your Mac. Enable it.
Your Okta account is now cloned to your Mac. From here on, when you hit an Okta sign-in screen in Chrome, you can use FastPass — just click the FastPass button and authenticate with your fingerprint instead of typing your password every time.
4

Platform SSO Registration

At some point during or after the Okta Verify setup, you’ll get a notification in the top-right corner of your screen that says something like:
Registration required. Use your identity provider password to log into your Mac.
Hit that notification and follow the prompts:
  1. You’ll be asked for your local Mac password — the one you created during the Setup Assistant.
  2. Okta will register a service on your Mac to bind your Mac login to your Okta account.
  3. You can select Use OktaFastPass to speed this step up.
  4. Finally, you’ll be asked to enter your Okta password (the one you use to sign in at goodnoodle.okta.com) to complete registration.
Once done, you’ll get a notification confirming your account has been updated and your password is synced with your identity provider.
Restart one more time after this. It ensures Platform SSO is fully applied and your Mac login is properly tied to your Okta credentials going forward.

You’re Ready

That’s it for post-setup configuration. Your machine is encrypted, enrolled, bound to your Okta account, and FastPass is live.
